After six seasons in Komoka, the play-by-play voice of the Kings, Dylan Baker, has been hired as the new play-by-play broadcaster for the Guelph Storm of the OHL on 1460 CJOY.
Baker was hired in August of 2019, at thirteen years old, to be the play-by-play voice of the Kings for all home games, calling his first game on September 14th, 2019. Over the years, he called 136 Kings games in the regular season and playoffs.
“I can’t speak highly enough of the Komoka Kings organization and what it has done for me,” said Baker. “Roop Chanderdat gave me the opportunity to cut my teeth in hockey and I am forever grateful to him for that. This organization has been so welcoming, supportive, and a great atmosphere to be around. Roop, Ray [Giffen] and everyone from top to bottom sets the bar for class and a well-run hockey club.”
“I am very happy that Dylan is getting this opportunity with Guelph in the OHL,” said Kings President and GM Roop Chanderdat. “It is well earned and deserved. The future is very bright for this young man. His success does not come by accident, since he is very hard working and prepared. He takes pride in getting better each day at his craft.”
Baker will be transitioning to a different role with the team: he will keep his title as Director of Media, overseeing social media and the broadcast from afar.
“I want to thank Roop, Ray, the late Don Adams, Paul Mylemans, Barry Irwin, Ron Horvat, Colin Martin, Adam Casey, Rumun Ndur, Johnny Warren, the Bond family, Braiden Procure, and countless others for their help over the years.”
“The entire Kings organization is very proud of Dylan,” said Chanderdat. “We are here to develop not only players but everyone in our organization that wants to get to the next level. Dylan will always be part of our Kings family, and we look forward to him working in his new role.”
Baker will call his final game as the full time play-by-play voice of the Kings on September 13th, the club’s 2025 home opener, vs. Waterloo. He will return to the club to call games occasionally throughout the course of the 2025-2026 regular season.
