The Komoka Kings are pleased to announce the signing of 2009-born defenceman Dustin Sweeney for the 2026-27 season.
Sweeney stands 6’1, 175 pounds on the back end and hails from Dutton, Ontario. He spent last season with the Dresden Jr. Kings in the PJHL, where as a 16-year old he posted five goals and 16 assists for 21 points in 38 games. Those 21 points led all rookie defencemen in the PJHL’s Western Conference and were 2nd among all 16-year old defencemen league wide. Sweeney also appeared in 5 games with the Komoka Kings last year as an affiliate player, showcasing his strong play on the blueline.
Prior to his time in Dresden, he was a member of the Elgin-Middlesex Canucks. He had 10 points in 30 GP in his U16 year helping the Canucks on a run to the OHL Cup Tournament.
The Kings look forward to the 2026-27 season getting underway in mid-September, with the preseason set to kick off in mid-August.
